Chattanooga Heart Institute

Murphy Law Firm is investigating claims on behalf of all individuals whose personal and confidential information was potentially compromised in the data breach involving Chattanooga Heart Institute. On April 17, 2023, Chattanooga Heart Institute discovered indications of a cybersecurity attack on its IT network. Through a subsequent investigation, Chattanooga Heart Institute determined that unauthorized cybercriminals successfully infiltrated its system and gained access to its network between March 8, 2023, and March 16, 2023. On May 31, 2023, The Chattanooga Heart Institute further determined that the unauthorized cybercriminals obtained files that contained the confidential personal information of 170,450 patients. The exposed data includes:

  • Names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • Dates of birth
  • Mailing addresses
  • Email addresses
  • Diagnosis and treatment information
  • Health insurance information
  • Financial information
  • Phone numbers

As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly confidential information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.

Murphy Law Firm is evaluating legal options, including a potential class action lawsuit, to recover damages for individuals who were affected by the data breach.
