Murphy Law Firm is investigating claims on behalf of all individuals whose personal and confidential information was potentially compromised in the data breach at EMC National Life Company (“EMC National Life”). EMC National Life recently discovered suspicious activity on its computer network. Following a forensic investigation, EMC National Life determined that cybercriminals had infiltrated its network and acquired confidential files containing personal identifying information. According to EMC National Life and its forensic experts, cybercriminals acquired the personal identifying information of at least tens of thousands of individuals. The acquired personal information included:
Names
Social Security numbers
Medical information
Financial account information
Payment card information
Driver’s license numbers
Taxpayer ID numbers
As a result of the EMC National Life data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly sensitive information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.
Murphy Law Firm is evaluating legal options, including a potential class action lawsuit, to recover damages for individuals who were affected by the data breach.
