Gaston College

Murphy Law Firm is investigating claims on behalf of all individuals whose personal and confidential information was potentially compromised in the data breach involving Gaston College. On February 22, 2023, Gaston College detected unusual activity on its internal network, indicating a data breach. Based on a forensic investigation, Gaston College confirmed that cybercriminals gained access to its network and accessed certain Gaston College systems. Gaston College further determined that unauthorized cybercriminals accessed and even acquired certain files from Gaston College systems, including files that contained the sensitive personal information of 191,324 individuals. The personal information accessible to cybercriminals, includes:

  • Names
  • Dates of birth
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • Financial account information
  • Medical/treatment information
  • Student information
  • Employment information

As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly confidential information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.

Murphy Law Firm is evaluating legal options, including a potential class action lawsuit, to recover damages for individuals who were affected by the data breach.
