Murphy Law Firm is investigating claims on behalf of all individuals whose personal and confidential information was potentially compromised in the data breach at PracticeMax, Inc. (“PracticeMax”). PracticeMax is a business management company that provides services such as billing, consulting, registration, and other solutions to hospitals, insurance companies, employers, and physician offices. On May 1, 2021, PracticeMax experienced suspicious activity on its systems. Following a forensic investigation, PracticeMax determined that cybercriminals had gained unauthorized access to its systems between April 17, 2021 and May 5, 2021. Based on the investigation, PracticeMax confirmed that cybercriminals may have accessed confidential and personal information of at least 154,929 patients whose information was stored on PracticeMax’s systems. According to PracticeMax, the personal information potentially accessed or acquired by cybercriminals includes:
Names
Social Security numbers
Dates of birth
Medical information
Health insurance information
Financial information
Addresses
As a result of the PracticeMax’s data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly sensitive information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.
Murphy Law Firm is evaluating legal options, including a potential class action lawsuit, to recover damages for individuals who were affected by the data breach.
