Murphy Law Firm is investigating claims on behalf of all individuals whose personal and confidential information was potentially compromised in the data breach involving Talcott Resolution Life Insurance Company (“Talcott). On or around May 29, 2023, Talcott confirmed an unauthorized actor gained access to its customers sensitive information. The unauthorized access occurred through the use of the MOVEit transfer tool used by Talcott’s third-party service provider, PBI Research Services. Through a subsequent investigation, Talcott determined that the data accessed by cybercriminals included the personal identifying information of approximately 552,821 individuals, including Social Security Numbers
As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly confidential information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud. Murphy Law Firm is evaluating legal options, including a potential class action lawsuit, to recover damages for individuals who were affected by the data breach.
