Ventura County Credit Union

Murphy Law Firm is investigating claims on behalf of all individuals whose personal and confidential information was potentially compromised in the data breach involving Ventura County Credit Union (“VCCU”). On or about December 14, 2022, VCCU detected unusual activity on its internal network, indicating a data breach. Based on a forensic investigation, VCCU confirmed that cybercriminals gained access to certain VCCU email accounts between October 20, 2022 to December 15, 2022. VCCU further determined that through this infiltration, cybercriminals potentially accessed or acquired the sensitive personal information of at least 81,900 individuals. The personal information accessible to cybercriminals, includes:

  • Names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Financial account information

As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly confidential information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.

Murphy Law Firm is evaluating legal options, including a potential class action lawsuit, to recover damages for individuals who were affected by the data breach.
