Mercer University

Murphy Law Firm is investigating claims on behalf of all individuals whose personal and confidential information was potentially compromised in the data breach involving Mercer University. On April 5, 2023, Mercer University detected unusual activity on its internal network, indicating a data breach. Based on a forensic investigation, Mercer University confirmed that unauthorized cybercriminals gained access to its computer system between at least February 12, 2023 and February 24, 2023. Mercer University further confirmed that the unauthorized cybercriminals accessed files containing the stored personal information of at least 93,512 individuals. The personal information accessed by cybercriminals in the data breach, includes:

  • Names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers

As a result of the data breach, these individuals’ personal and highly confidential information may be in the hands of cybercriminals who can place the information for sale on the dark web or use the information to perpetrate identity fraud.

Murphy Law Firm is evaluating legal options, including a potential class action lawsuit, to recover damages for individuals who were affected by the data breach.
